Driving in the Republic of Ireland is no different than driving in the UK, drive on the left and overtake of the right, the alcohol limit is 0.05% as is the same more most of Europe and don't use your mobile phone unless its hands free. Two rules which are different from the UK are that it prohibited to sound the car horn between 23:30 and 07:00 as well the use of speed camera detectors.
The interior of Shannon airport is very straightforward in its layout. As can be seen on the maps available at www.shannonairport.com, there is one large sized terminal that comprises the bulk of the airport’s services. Shopping is primarily focused around The Loop concept, popular in many of the Irish airports which combine the products of many different types of mall and airport stores into one continuous shopping experience. From fragrances to clothing to local products, they can all be found here. Food options range from grab and go food options to sit down bar and pub food.
Shannon Airport is located near the small city of Shannon but serves much of the west side of Ireland. In fact, many opt to fly into Shannon airport to get to places even as far as Dublin. The airport is almost the same size city itself such is the popularity of it and is connected to the west of the city. After leaving the airport, the N19 runs straight through Shannon and really only takes 10 minutes door to door. Just outside the city you can meet up with the E20 (M7) which takes you west to Limerick and then all the way to Dublin.
The Shannon Airport has facilities to handle far more passengers than they currently bring in each year so for those who want to get a hire car, Shannon Airport has an excellent assortment from a number of companies. Shannon Airport car hire arrangements are made near the baggage claim and pickups for most companies are at a shared area south of the airport.
Shannon is a unique holiday destination simply because of how new the town itself is. It was established in 1960’s primarily as a residential area for those working nearby. It was not as successful an endeavour as desired, though so reformation occurred to make it more suitable for those in the area including improvements to shopping centres and sites. The natural scenery including marsh lands, caves and wildlife are breathtaking in the area and perfect for those who wish for a simpler, relaxing holiday where they can enjoy local fare, sip some Irish coffee or an ale and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and responsibilities.
